Assistant Store Manager

We are looking for an individual who has a strong focus on client services, product knowledge, visual presentation, and store organization to successfully carry out the responsibilities of the Assistant Store Manager.  In this capacity you will be supporting the store owner to achieve sales goals and run the store smoothly. The Assistant Store Manager reports to the Store Owner / Manager (O/M).

  • Works as a part of a team to achieve store’s sales plan. Supports sales initiatives, creates daily sales agendas and directs selling activities on the floor as Manager on Duty.
  • Seeks opportunities to assist every customer in order to increase sales.
  • Anticipates and solves problems by taking decisive action, follows up with the O/M.
  • Manages deliveries and re-stocking. Controls shrinkage and retail supply expenses.
  • Stays informed on all products offered by KitchenWares by maintaining product knowledge, accesses available training and seeks out additional resources when necessary.
  • Demonstrates competent verbal and written communication skills with staff, customers, and O/M.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned by O/M.

Essential Functions

  • Opening and closing of the store
  • Drives sales by interacting with clients to provide a genuine and welcoming experience
  • Communicates with customers, management and peers in a friendly and attentive manner; puts the client first
  • Utilizes strong listening skills to identify customer needs
  • Resolves client issues in a prompt, friendly, and hassle-free manner
  • Applies knowledge to make product recommendations
  • Balances customers and tasks simultaneously and efficiently, using good judgment and teamwork
  • Partners with management to resolve customer service situations
  • Ability to operate a computer, POS system, keyboard, bar-code scanners and mouse in order to accomplish work
  • Must be able to work without sitting for up to 3 hours at a time.
  • Able to move quickly about the store floor assisting customers and retrieving merchandise from storage or sales floor.
  • Able to grab, reach, push, pull, bend, stoop, kneel and crouch in order to demonstrate, retrieve and replenish merchandise.
  • Ability to work a variable schedule at different times of the day, week and year. The store is open 360 days a year.
  • Prompt, regular and predictable attendance.
  • Able to ascend/descend short ladders in order to retrieve and/or move merchandise.
  • Able to lift and/or move merchandise weighing up to 35 lbs.

Experience and Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of daily retail sales experience. Prior experience in the kitchen wares / home goods business is a plus, but not required.
  • Experience assisting customers to make purchase decisions.
  • Self-motivated to assist customers and help manage the store.
  • Experience training others is a plus.
  • Proficient in POS Systems and cash control procedures
  • Proficient with MS Office (Outlook, Word and Excel) a plus.

Additional Skills not required but nice to have

  • Fluency in either or both Spanish and Portuguese
